Back of House Academy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates backofhouseacademy.com — an educational platform for independent restaurant owners. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.
Information you provide directly: When you create an account or complete onboarding, we collect your name, email address, restaurant name, restaurant type, state, city, current stage of ownership, and optional details about your business challenges and revenue range.
Usage information: We collect data about how you use the platform — lessons completed, calculator inputs, community posts, check-in responses, and feature interactions. This helps us personalize your experience and improve the product.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or banking details. We receive confirmation of payment status and your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription.
Technical information: We automatically collect IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited to maintain platform security and performance.
We use the information we collect to: provide and personalize the Service based on your restaurant stage and type; process subscription payments and manage your account; send transactional emails (account creation, payment receipts, password resets); send product updates and educational content you have opted into; improve and develop new features based on usage patterns; and ensure platform security and prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We share your information only in these limited circumstances: with Stripe to process payments; with Supabase to store and manage your account data (they act as a data processor on our behalf); with email service providers to send transactional and marketing emails; if required by law or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, in which case you will be notified. We never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
Content you post in the community forum — including your name, restaurant name, and post content — is visible to other logged-in subscribers. Do not share sensitive personal or financial information in public forum posts. You can request deletion of your community posts by contacting us.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Calculator inputs and check-in history are retained to provide you with trend analysis and historical data. If you cancel your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We use analytics cookies to understand how users navigate the platform. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect platform functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and associated data; opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link; and export your data in a portable format. To exercise these rights, email us at cpoole@revasyn.com. We will respond within 30 days.
The Service is intended for adults operating or planning to open a restaurant business. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data storage, HTTPS, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. The “effective date” at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
